I bought a computer magazine to read on the train today – it took me 5 minutes to remove all of the enclosed CDs that were glued to various pages throughout asking me to sign up to Tiscali/ AOL/ BT etc !

I think they should be made to use Re-writable CDs for this kind of crappy advertising. I’m sure the vast majority of people who buy these magazines already have net access they are happy with and don’t need umpteen CDs.

At the moment, they just go in the bin which seems a complete waste. Make em re-writable and I can stick an album on them instead… legally downloaded and paid for of course….

Sore paw

Went to see my doctor today. He says I have tennis elbow !

Swine said it could take “months” to heal with a smile on his face. Pretty much the same way the garage say “your car is falling to bits”.

He also made a shit joke about the fact that you don’t need to play tennis to get tennis elbow !

I knew that – get on and fix my arm Mr Quack.

Bottom line is, when I was doing no exercise, I felt fine. I start to go swimming and do climbing, and I start getting all these pains ?!

I’m staying on my sofa from now on.

An evening at Murrayfield

The bullet was bitten and I trudged along last night to Hearts first home game at Murrayfield. I certainly expected a stadium that holds 60 000 to feel empty with less than a third of that number in attendance.

I was therefore shocked that the game had one of the best atmospheres I’d known at a game for a long time. The crowd were behind the team and the design of the stadium certainly seemed to amplify the noise that was being made.

However, all this doesn’t prove that moving to Murrayfield is a good idea. What it proves is that it is the fans of a club who keep it alive. 18 700 fans turned out to see a vital football match, some no doubt curious to experience Murrayfield but most wanting to prove that, no matter what, the club lives on.

Whether any of this will be true when we play Livingston in front of 8000 is another matter !

Franz Ferdinand have announced that they want to do the Scotland World Cup song for 2006. I will be one of the first to hear it when they play it at their matinee show in Glasgow next month.

Alex Kapranos is quoted as saying that the song has three notes and one word – “everyone can work out what the word is”.

Surely it must be “awnaw” ?

Or perhaps they will name the song after their album track “come on home”
