I bought a computer magazine to read on the train today – it took me 5 minutes to remove all of the enclosed CDs that were glued to various pages throughout asking me to sign up to Tiscali/ AOL/ BT etc !
I think they should be made to use Re-writable CDs for this kind of crappy advertising. I’m sure the vast majority of people who buy these magazines already have net access they are happy with and don’t need umpteen CDs.
At the moment, they just go in the bin which seems a complete waste. Make em re-writable and I can stick an album on them instead… legally downloaded and paid for of course….
Or you could see what creative and original ways you can find to re-use them. For example, you could hold an impromptu frisbee-throwing competition in the office, make them into a set of fetching earrings or perhaps style yourself as a Bond-type villain whose special weapon is pointless marketing CDs. You see, there are always options.

Here, I posted a pertinent and hilarious comment on this blog yesterday, and it isn’t showing! You’ll just have to take my word for it that it was brilliant. Borderline genius, in fact.

Call me stupid and explain to me, but…What happens to binned CD’s?
Are they melted down and re-made as tea-spoons or something or do they all end up in some electronic graveyard somewhere.
Am off now with a lighter and a copy of anything by ***** Williams!
